I think it's difficult to hit the media owners in the pocketbook when their moneymaking happens in a different industry. I did cancel my WaPo subscription, but to have an effect on Bezos I'd probably do better to cut off Amazon.

Sadly, while it's easy to not buy a Cybertruck, it's much less easy to kick Amazon to the curb.

No it isn’t. Haven’t used Amazon in a decade.

Suck it up, cowards.

You can live without Amazon. I am living proof.

And boycott CBS. Very easy because they suck and are un American .

I wasn't expecting great things, but I am surprised how FAST this attack on the free media happened.

i'm not surprised by the attack. But I am surprised by how quickly some media owners knuckled under.

Where do people who boycott media get their information? (Sadly, I think I can make a good guess.) It’s one thing to cancel a subscription, but that information vacuum needs to be filled. I stopped watching network and cable news, but PBS Newshour is a terrific alternative. Thanks

I wouldn't be surprised if they turned to sources which were still getting the bulk of their information from traditional media.

...in the same way the local TV news affiliate I worked for decades ago never had a Week Ahead meeting without referring to and cribbing off of all the local newspapers strewn all over the conference table. Traditional media are still most of the boots on the ground.

Thanks. Pretty much my thoughts exactly. I want to keep supporting journalists. And I also want to support the legal resources and access that mainstream media still have to protect those journalists. I did cancel my WaPo subscription months ago soon after renewing it; I have until November to decide whether or not to finally let it go. Subject to change. But like you, I'm still seeing WaPo doing some good work while not pulling any punches. In the meantime, I'm continuing to subscribe to my/our independently-owned hometown newspaper so they can stay afloat to fight the good fight in FL. We need them more than ever.

For sure. I think these decisions wind up being very personal and specific. It's tough for me, given my work, to cut any media outlet off...

Thanks for this, I've been struggling with it myself and decided, for instance, to keep supporting journalism jobs at the WaPo. No good answers!

Yeah. I think you're right. For me, a straight up boycott won't happen until I think most of the news content is compromised. But I may change my mind. LOL.
